Green stuff

Green stuff is the common name for a two-part epoxy sculpting putty, sold as two different colored sticks, often yellow and blue, that are kneaded together in equal amounts until they form a uniform green-grey putty. Once mixed it stays workable for a limited window of time before curing into a hard, stable material that can be filed, drilled or painted like the rest of the model.

Hobbyists use it for two main purposes, filling gaps left where two cast parts do not meet perfectly, and sculpting new details entirely, from simple texture like cracked ground on a base to freehand additions like pouches, cloaks or entirely new heads for a converted miniature. Because it cures fully hard, repairs and additions made with it are as durable as the original cast material.

Working with wet tools, water, a specific sculpting tool or a lightly wet finger, keeps green stuff from sticking to hands and tools while it is being shaped. A common mistake is mixing more than can be used before it starts to firm up, or handling it with dry fingers, which drags and tears the surface instead of smoothing it.
