Dice are the one piece of gear every tabletop player touches on every turn, and the range on the market now goes far beyond the standard plastic polyhedral set. Metal dice land with satisfying authority. Sharp-edged resin sets are hand-poured with inclusions from glitter to tiny skulls. Wargamers need bricks of matched d6s that read instantly across the table, while RPG players want a full seven-die set with personality. Fairness matters too, since cheap tumbled dice can be noticeably unbalanced. This guide covers the standout sets across materials and price points, compared on balance, readability, durability, and looks, with guidance on what actually makes a die roll fair and when spending more genuinely gets you more.
